Huangling County has the forest coverage rate of more than 75%, and boasts one of the five major forest areas in Shaanxi Province. Huangling has a long history of Chinese bee keeping, with the breeding area mainly distributed in Ziwuling mountainous area. According to statistics, Huangling is home to over 300 species of nectar-rich plants, including long-flowering and high-yield varieties such as black locust, vetch, and lacquer trees, creating an ideal habitat for Chinese honey bee (Apis cerana) cultivation.
Chinese bee keeping in Huangling is in the remote Ziwuling mountainous area far away from villages, mainly two brands - Ziwuyuan and Juyuan.
