In 2024, there were a total of 801 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens across the city, including 25 regular high schools, 15 vocational high schools, 87 junior high schools, 228 primary schools, 440 kindergartens, 6 special education schools, and 19 primary school teaching sites (not counted in the total number of schools). There were 457,000 students enrolled, with 53,500 in regular high schools, 14,400 in vocational high schools, 105,900 in junior high schools, 208,000 in primary schools, 74,600 in kindergartens, 451 in special education schools, and 390 in primary school teaching sites. The city met all six “double reduction” monitoring indicators set by the Ministry of Education and won seven special awards for basic education teaching achievements in Shaanxi Province.
