Scenic Area Overview
Yan 'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall was one of the earliest revolutionary memorial halls established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was built in January 1950 and was originally located in the Nanguan junction.
In 2002, it was awarded the "AAAA" level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration.
In 2004, it was awarded the "Advanced Collective of the National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base" by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (short for the “CPC Central Committee), the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Culture.
In 2008, it was rated as one of the first national first-class museums.
In 2009, the new building of Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall was rated as "100 Classics and Fine Projects in the 60 Years Since the Founding of New China".
Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall is located on the east bank of Yanhe River, northwest of Baota District, 1 km away from the city.

Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall
With an exhibition area of 14,300 square meters, more than 2,500 cultural relics and more than 1,400 historical photos are displayed. A large number of precious revolutionary cultural relics, documents and photos on display are divided to 11 units in historical order. With a length of more than 400 m and more than 1,000 historical photos and more than 800 revolutionary cultural relics, the exhibition hall vividly reproduced the brilliant achievements of the older generation of revolutionaries living in cave dwellings, eating millet and driving out the Japanese aggressors in Yan'an.
In front of the memorial hall, there is a large square which is flat and open with green space and blossomed flowers. In the middle of the square there is a bronze statue of Mao Zedong, which was designed by the famous sculptor Cheng Yunxian. It is 5 meters high, weighing about 3 tons, and the total height is 8.15 meters plus the foundation support. The words "Mao Zedong in Yan'an" written by Jiang Zemin were inscribed on the foundation support.
Historical Story
In 1954, it was moved to the former site of the CPC Central Committee in Yangjialing, and was named "Yan'an Museum".
In 1955, it was moved to the courtyard of the revolutionary site at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain and renamed as the "Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall". In June 1973, it was moved to the current site in Wangjiaping.
In 1973, Premier Zhou Enlai pointed out that "A Party history display is a teaching book of a Party history".
In 1989, when General Secretary Jiang Zemin came to Yan’an for inspection, he also visited all the contents of the museum with his emotional eyes. The Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall is the most vivid textbook of the CPC Central Committee, which is a brilliant gathering point of China in the 20th century.
In 1996, it was designated as the National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Local customs
In the memorial hall, visitors can choose to listen to the folk songs and storytelling in northern Shaanxi and other literary and artistic programs. The hall can accommodate 15 people at a time.
Specialty such as high-quality apples and wild jujube are all worth taking back to taste.
