There are more than 40,000 mupear trees planted in the city, largely distributed inYanchang and Yichuan county, with the current annual yieldof about 10,000 tons. According toShaanxi Fruit Tree Annals: “The fruit is large, ovalshaped, longitudinal diameter of 9.2 cm, and transverse diameter 8.1 cm, average weight of 470 grams.The biggest one can weigh up to 665 grams. The fruit is golden after ripening, the pericarp is thick, fine and rough, with prominent brown dots on.”A single Jinpearweighs about one jin(500g), hence it got the name.
